Memphis Oddity & Curiosity Expo
2025 Contract

This contract serves as the guidelines for the 2025 Memphis Oddity & Curiosity Expo taking place on April 26, 2025 and April 27, 2025. These rules must be followed by all participants. Failure to abide by these rules can result in removal from the event.

I - Contact and Communication

II - Zero Tolerance Policy

III - Payments/Refunds/Carryover Policy

IV - No Call, No Show

V - Packing Up Early

VI - Separate Event Pages

We communicate with our vendors primarily via email. When you submit an application, be sure that your email is correct. To avoid our emails possibly going to your spam folder, please save this email - Memphisodditymarkets@gmail.com

To contact us regarding your booth or any other event questions, please use the forementioned email. Do not contact us on business or personal social media pages about your application or questions, as it is easy for those messages to get lost and buried within other notifications.

Memphis Oddity Markets does not discriminate or tolerate discrimination. This includes the bases of race, sexual orientation, gender (or lack thereof), religious beliefs, political beliefs, age, etc. This event is a safe place for people of all walks of life. We WILL NOT tolerate homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism, or any form of hatred. If you do not agree with this or hold these same values, you may want to reconsider application.

The 2025 Memphis Oddity & Curiosity Expo does not provide refunds for booth cancellations unless there is a health/family emergency. Your invoice must be paid in full by the due date specified in your acceptance email, unless otherwise discussed. Failure to pay your invoice in full by the due date can result in restrictions from future shows. Unless the event is cancelled, your payment cannot be carried over to the next event.

If you do not show up to the event day and do not contact us, this can result in restrictions or removal from future events. Having a vendor no call no show affects the expo layout, experience, and appearance to the public.

Packing your booth up early before the end time of the event is not permitted, unless there is a health/family emergency. Packing up early without explanation on either event day will result in the removal from the event or future events with no refund. You must wait until after the event end times to pack up for the day. Packing up early gives an unprofessional appearance to the public and prevents them from shopping that specific booth.

Under no circumstances should you create a separate event page for the 2025 Memphis Oddity & Curiosity Expo, as this creates confusion for attendees and event advertising. Creating a separate event page for this expo can result in restrictions or removal from the event with no refund.

VII - Tardiness

All vendors must be on time for show days and load in days. Please be sure to read your acceptance email thoroughly for specific load in details. Repeated tardiness may result in removal from the event.

VIII - Advertising Other Events

Promoting another event during the expo is not prohibited, just make sure its within the same realm. We do plan to have a table at the event with flyers for other upcoming events. We just ask that you do not walk around and hand out flyers or take the focus away from the expo.

IX - Taxes, Permits, Licensing

All vendors must adhere to state tax and permit guidelines. For the sale of items requiring permits or paperwork, we have the right to request this paperwork. Failure to provide permits or paperwork on any item or specimen that requires it, will require you to remove it from the event.

X - Specimen Sourcing

All specimens should be sustainably sourced, e.g. not hunting and ending an animals life for the sole purpose of making art to sell. All specimens must be legally obtained and legal to sell in the state of Tennessee. No specimen shall violate the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Any specimen predating any laws pertaining to them must have the proper paperwork or permits to sell. If it is discovered that you are in violation of these rules, you will be removed from the event.

XI - Booth Discretion

Some vendors may have items that include gore, true crime, nudity, or other aspects of that nature. These items may not be displayed openly, but must be displayed within your booth with a discretionary advisory. Some people may be triggered by these items and there will also be children present, please be considerate of this.

XII - Copyrighted/Licensed Material

Selling any copyrighted or licensed material that does not belong to you is prohibited and can result in removal from the event with no refund.

XIII - Reselling

Reselling items is allowed as long as the items are antiques or vintage clothing. We do not allow the reselling of bulk items from supplier websites.

XIV - Canopies and Tents

Please double check with us before bringing a canopy or tent and planning your booth around it. Canopy frames are permitted, but using the canopy top will not be allowed due to indoor fire marshall guidelines.

XV - Open Flames

No open flames or incense burning is allowed at this event due to liability reasons and for other vendors or patrons who may be sensitive to scents. Candles and incense are more than welcome to be sold, we just cannot have them lit.

XVI - Personal Music

Due to the close proximity of vendors to each other, we cannot allow vendors to play personal music on speakers during load in days or event days within their booth. It can be distracting to those around you with sensory issues and inconsiderate to your fellow vendors.

XVII - Poaching and Drama

There will be a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for poaching. We have seen this too many times at other events. DO NOT try to get patrons into your booth while they are shopping in or around another booth. Only when they are in front of or within your booth is it acceptable to engage. When you poach patrons from other booths to get sales, you are damaging your neighbor vendors experience and your reputation. If you are having your patrons poached while shopping your booth, please come to the Memphis Oddity Markets booth and notify us. If you are caught poaching or reported to be poaching, you will be asked to leave with no refund. We do expect that there is always a possibility that there will be some vendors who may not see eye to eye with each other. We ask that everyone be professional and respectful of each other in order to create a welcoming environment for vendors and patrons. If you would like to request to be placed away from any specific vendor to avoid conflict, please email us directly and we will place both vendors accordingly.

XVIII - Booth Products

We approve your booth based on your application and what items you state that you sell or services that you offer. New items and services are acceptable as long as they are still within the same realm. If you introduce a completely different type of item or service from what you stated, you may be asked to remove it. An example of this would be if you were approved to sell custom jewelry and then brought some taxidermy to sell within your booth in addition to the jewelry. All vendors will be placed to space out any similar items, so changing up your items drastically can affect the layout of the event.

XIX - Booth Signage

Please try to keep all booth displays and signage to a maximum height of 8ft. If you have any banners or signage that exceed this height, your business name and/or logo are then showing in the booth next to or behind you. This can cause some confusion and can take away from your neighbor vendors display. Please be aware of your neighbor vendors when placing your signage and displays.

XX - Booth Cleanliness

Please try to keep your booth space clean and free of trash. The aisles and main event areas will be upkept by the event staff, but your booth space is your responsibility. When the event has come to an end, please gather all of your trash and dispose of it properly to aid in the cleanup process of the event.

XXI - Booth Setup

All booth spots will be assigned and marked out prior to setup. You are only allotted the space of the booth size that you select. It is not permissible to exceed this size limit, as it bleeds into the spaces of other vendors or into the aisles. You are permitted to layout your booth however you see fit as long as it is within the space marked out.

XXII - Tattoo and Piercing Booths

For tattoo and piercing booths, there will be pipe and drape separating you from the other vendors as per Shelby County Health Department Guidelines. Please do not hang any items on the pipe and drape assemblies as they are not meant to hold much weight except for the drapery. You must have a table blocking off the front of your booth in order to also adhere to the Shelby County Health Department Guidelines to create a blocked off space from the public. Upon approval of your application, you will be sent an invoice with an attached document for the temporary facility permit. This is to be filled out and sent back to us so that we can send it through the proper channels. This permit must be on display during the entire event.

XXIII - Food Vendors

Food vendors will have the option of either a food truck or an indoor 10x10 space. Due to pre-existing venue concessions contracts, all food vendors are required to pay a $150 fee to the venue in addition to their booth fee.

XXIV - Event Load In and Load Out

You will receive a load in and load out email prior to the event. Please read this email in full and follow all instructions. Tattoo and Piercing vendors are required to set up on the Friday before the event in order to be ready for booth inspection to ensure it meets all Shelby County Health Department guidelines. Do not share load in information with anyone, as we try to stagger times in order to make setup run smoothly. Larger booths will have priority load in, as they require more time to set up. Please do not show up hours early for load in, you will not be allowed to load or setup until your designated time.

XXV - Final Notes

Please abide by these rules in order to make this expo a success for vendors and patrons. Memphis Oddity Markets retains the right to remove any vendor from this event that violates any of these rules or for any other warranted reason. If there are any questions or suggestions, you may contact us at Memphisodditymarkets@gmail.com
